To prepare you and your coach for a rewarding birth experience, this class covers breathing and relaxation techniques, methods of induction/augmentation of labor, comfort measures, options in labor, Cesarean births, infant characteristics, and options in feeding your child. We answer to the age old question, “when do I come to the hospital?” We also cover in the class how labor begins, what to look for, and when we want to see you in labor & delivery.
We are going to offer a virtual and an all-day in person Prepared Childbirth class this year. Virtual classes will be on Microsoft TEAMS on Saturday from 10:00 AM to Noon. In-person classes will meet in the hospital auditorium from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. There will be a 50 min lunch break. (Lunch is not provided, it is own their own) This class provides the same info as in person plus time to practice coping skills, relaxation, and includes information on c-sections and newborn characteristics. All day class is highly recommended for persons interested in an unmedicated labor or those who do not wish to have an epidural.
The end of the class focuses on common newborn behavior, feeding and sleeping patterns, basic newborn care, and selecting a healthcare provider for your baby. As part of the course, you will receive a 123-page manual which covers the birth process through the first year of life.
This class is recommended for women in their 7-8 month of pregnancy. Please wear comfortable clothing.
